phpvm (PHP Version Manager)

Core Features Implemented

  • Instant CLI Runtime Switching: One-command switching between PHP 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 with zero OS reboots or manual PATH editing
  • Atomic Symlink Proxy: Dynamically updates a single shim directory in the system PATH to point to selected PHP installations safely
  • Extension Compatibility Checker: Automatically verifies and enables matching extensions (curl, pdo_mysql, mbstring) across active runtimes
  • Windows Registry Integrity Guard: Non-destructive environment modification preventing duplicate PATH pollution or corrupted keys

System Architecture

  • Atomic Windows directory junction/symlink replacement avoiding shell reboot requirements
  • Automated php.ini extension directory resolution matching VC runtime compilers
  • SHA256 checksum verification validating downloaded Windows PHP zip archives from official sources
  • Compact standalone script package (< 1.5MB) with zero third-party framework dependencies
